Country Wedding Venues: FAQs
The UK has some of the most beautiful countryside in the world. If you want a picturesque setting for your wedding, then you should choose one of these stunning country wedding venues. From rustic barns and cosy tipis surrounded by rolling hills to luxury country houses with gorgeous gardens, you’re spoilt for choice with these country wedding venues.
Narrow them down by country to find the perfect country venue near you. Whatever your style of wedding, you’ll be able to find a venue that fits your theme. There’s castles, cottages, country manors and even a Cornish cave!
Why Choose a Country Wedding Venue?
Country wedding venues are seriously photogenic and provide a perfect backdrop to your wedding day. They vary from atmospheric, rustic barns and farms to historic, luxury estates and halls; from intimate venues for small weddings to vast, sprawling parkland that can host a marquee for hundreds of people.
If your guests are travelling from far afield, you might worry about transport and accommodation at a country wedding venue, but you don’t need to. Many countryside venues will have accommodation on site and will be within easy reach of a local train station. You can always organise a bus to collect guests and drop them off in a nearby town at the end of the night.
What Can We Do If Our Venue is a Listed or Historic Building?
If you go for a country wedding venue, it’s likely that it might have a long history and could be Grade I or II-listed. This will affect how much freedom you might have with your decorations as there are rules about what you can do to the interiors; for example, you won’t be able to light candles inside, there will be antiques you need to be careful with, and nothing can be attached to the walls.
Speak to your venue about the rules before you book. There could be alternatives, like a marquee set up in their walled garden or a modern, purpose-built wedding space. If you’re worried about making an impact, the space in the countryside means you’re more likely to be able to have a fireworks display or a dramatic arrival by helicopter than in a city venue.
